Oakland, the Nelson Museum of History, is dedicated to sharing the history of Nelson County and Central Virginia with an emphasis on two events that contributed to the character and direction of Nelson County:
Rural Electrification as part of the New Deal
and the impact of Hurricane Camille in 1969.
